Richard Patching is the President/CEO of PAAE, he has engineering and physics degrees from the University of Alberta in Edmonton, and Masters of Engineering degree from the University of Calgary. Richard began PAAE in 1988 and was the sole employee until 1990, when he incorporated the firm. Over time, the staff has grown as well as Richard’s dedication to providing unbiased advice to his clients. Richard brings vast experience in all the industries that PAAE is involved in; oil & gas, transportation, architectural and industrial. Richard has attended many regulatory hearings in the role of expert witness and has also presented a variety of papers at noise conferences from Calgary to Kyoto.

Nev Hircock is a Professional Engineer and graduate of Cambridge University in the U.K. He came to Canada in 1976 from the British Utility Industry and since then has worked in project, process and acoustical engineering for Dome Petroleum, Amoco, and now as a consultant. Nev’s association with PAAE began in 1994 and he brings with him a wealth of experience in the noise, compression and process industries. At PAAE, Nev’s specialty is the oil and gas industry.

In 2000, Neil Morozumi joined the firm with an engineering degree from the University of Manitoba. Neil excels at the firm within the transportation noise industry, including light-rail transit. Neil is PAAE’s resident expert at traffic noise modeling, with over nine years of experience working on large-scale transportation projects in Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba. Even though traffic takes up a large portion of Neil’s time at PAAE, his project experience is quite diverse also including oil and gas, architectural and environmental work. In 2005, Neil became an owner and partner at PAAE.

Justin wears many hats at the firm but the oil and gas industry is his forte. Justin joined the firm in 2003 bringing the unique perspective of an engineering education coupled with a rural farm background. It is second nature for Justin to put himself into the shoes of the client or the resident. Justin is a graduate of the Mechanical Engineering program at the University of Calgary. Justin’s has completed over 400 oil and gas, transportation, architectural and environmental projects. In 2005, Justin became an owner and partner at PAAE.

Jess joined the firm in 2006, bringing with her architectural acoustic measurement experience and many years of musical training. Since then she has diversified within the PAAE team, working on over 150 oil & gas, transportation, architectural and wind power projects but still specializes in architectural acoustics. Jess is a graduate of the Mechanical Engineering program at the Schulich School of Engineering. Jess has experience with Brüel & Kjær, Noise Pro and Larson Davis equipment, and is skilled with modeling programs such as CadnaA, ENM, TNM and CATT Acoustic.

Sam is a graduate of the Mechanical Engineering program at the University of Alberta. Since joining the firm in 2008 Sam has worked on a wide variety of projects, focusing mainly on transportation and oil & gas. Sam approaches projects from an environmental mindset and is innovative at improving project efficiency. Sam is fluent in both French and English, and has over six years of musical training. Sam is adept with Brüel & Kjær equipment and is practiced with numerous acoustic modeling programs such as CadnaA, TNM and Noise at Work.

In 2009, Michel joined the firm bringing with him over three years of acoustical field experience in Brazil and Canada. Michel specializes in large manufacturing and oil & gas facilities and has worked on over twenty large scale projects. Michel is a graduate of the Civil Engineering program at Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Paraná, and is fluent in Portuguese and English. Michel has experience working with Brüel & Kjær and Larson Davis equipment, and is proficient with many modeling programs such as CadnaA, Ecotect, Noise at Work and TNM.

The latest addition to the PAAE team, Sheying has a rich background in noise control and acoustic measurement. Sheying has a Ph.D. Sc. in Acoustics from Tongji University (Shanghai, China) and extensive research experience in designing, modeling and testing noise control products.
